At Tranwell Farm Campsite, we believe camping should be simple, peaceful and rooted in nature. Our small off-grid campsite is tucked away in the Northumberland countryside, with birdsong and night skies that are dark enough for stargazing. No electric hookups and no busy entertainment, it’s a place to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with the outdoors.

Families often tell us how much they enjoy watching their children rediscover the simple joys of nature here – pond dipping, spotting wildlife, listening for owls at dusk or heading off on adventures to the many attractions nearby. It’s the kind of traditional camping many people remember from childhood.

Our spacious tent pitches are mown into long meadow grass, giving each family their own little pocket of countryside and plenty of space to relax. Each pitch is suitable for one family tent or two small one-man tents (an additional pup tent or gazebo can be added for a small fee).

Woodside Pitches (1–3) sit beside the trees and enjoy gentle morning sunshine with plenty of shelter.

Meadow Pitches (4–5) are set out in the open meadow, catching the evening sun and offering lovely views across the surrounding fields.

We keep the campsite intentionally small and peaceful so that guests can truly unwind. Children are very welcome, and we ask that they are supervised and mindful of other campers so that everyone can enjoy the quiet atmosphere and their own space. Because of the layout of the meadow and the wildlife habitats, ball games aren’t suitable on the campsite.

For the same reason, Tranwell is best suited to couples and families looking for a calm countryside escape rather than groups or late-night gatherings. We don’t allow parties, loud music or group bookings, helping to preserve the relaxed atmosphere that many of our guests return for year after year.

Cars are welcome to access the pitches for unloading tents and equipment on arrival. After setting up, we ask that vehicles are parked in the grass parking area at the entrance to the site for the duration of your stay (unless required for accessibility).

If you’re looking for peaceful evenings around the campfire, children exploring nature, and the simple pleasure of camping under wide Northumberland skies, Tranwell Farm Campsite is the perfect place to escape the everyday.
